Methods to Further Prevent Going “HOT”:
K-Shama: Exceptionally fine, cotton-like fiber with easy degumming—ideal for quality blended yarns.
Typical seed counts range between 20,000-22,000 seeds per pound.
K-Shama is a smaller-seed variant of Yuma series. Its properties align it specifically for high-quality textile-grade fiber production (with up to 35% fiber content). The cotton-type fiber produced is easy to degum, which makes it suitable for making blending yarn.
Originating in Asia, the K-Shama is most suited to latitudes above 36N but can be adapted to grow in other climates with the correct advice. This seed type benefits from high density planting in order to create optimal fiber production results.
In addition, this variety boasts a smaller core and thicker fiber with enhanced branching, which improves the final fiber quality and also boosts the per-plant yield. Generally, K-Shama reaches a mature height of up to 15 feet and yields 4-6 tons per acre.
